  • 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. Marinate beef strips for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté sliced onions until soft and caramelized; season with salt and pepper.
  3. In the same skillet, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over high heat. Add marinated beef strips and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned.
  4. Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Pour over beef and simmer until thickened.
  5. Add sautéed onions back to the skillet and stir to combine. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
