  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (whisked)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (NOT the entire can)
  • 1 cup evaporated milk (NOT the entire can)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (AKA cornflour)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325F (170C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil.
  2. Melt the butter and dark chocolate together until smooth. Stir in sugar and whisked eggs.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt; combine with wet ingredients until just mixed.
  4. For the pumpkin layer, mix pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, brown sugar, spices, and cornstarch until smooth.
  5. Pour brownie batter into the pan and spoon pumpkin mixture on top; swirl lightly with a knife.
  6. Bake for about 50 minutes or until set; let cool completely before cutting into squares.
